The role of zinc oxide in rubber mainly includes as a vulcanising active agent, reinforcing agent, antioxidant and colouring agent. Vulcanising active agent:Zinc oxide can accelerate the vulcanisation process and increase the degree of cross-linking, thus enhancing the hardness and abrasion resistance of rubber. It ensures the acquisition of physical and mechanical properties, such as tear resistance, abrasion resistance and elasticity, by promoting an increase in the crosslink density of the rubber.
Reinforcing agent: Zinc oxide enhances the hardness and abrasion resistance of rubber and improves the tear resistance and service life of rubber products.
Antioxidants: Zinc oxide extends the service life of rubber products by preventing mould and microorganisms or ultraviolet rays from attacking the rubber.
Colouring agent:In white rubber, zinc oxide also acts as a colouring agent, giving the desired colour to the product.
In addition, zinc oxide has a wide range of applications in the rubber tyre industry, it can improve the thermal conductivity, wear resistance, tear resistance and tensile strength of tyres and many other indicators, thus extending the service life of tyres and ensuring driving safety. In transparent rubber and food rubber products, zinc oxide as an indispensable inorganic active agent, can give the rubber products new performance, such as high-speed wear resistance, anti-aging sunlight.
