Influence of charging sequence on the processing performance of rubber compounds

Processing performance is one of the important indexes to evaluate the quality of rubber compounds. In this study, the processing performance of compounds under different charging sequences was evaluated by testing the plasticity and extrusion performance of the compounds. The results show that a reasonable dosing sequence can effectively improve the processing performance of the compounds. When carbon black and silica fillers were added first, these fillers could form a stable network structure in the raw rubber, which could improve the plasticity and extrudability of the compounds. At the same time, the addition of active agent can further promote the interaction between fillers and raw rubber, so that the mixing rubber is more stable in the process. On the contrary, when the dosing order is not reasonable, such as adding active agent before adding filler, etc., it will lead to the decline of the processing performance of the rubber compound.
