The mixing property of rubber is whether the cooperating agent is easy to mix with the rubber and dispersed uniformly. The mixing property of rubber mainly depends on the infiltration or mutual solubility between the cooperating agent and the rubber.
Filler has a great influence on the mixing performance. Hydrophobic fillers, such as carbon black, are easily infiltrated by the rubber, so they are easy to mix with the rubber and have good mixing properties. Hydrophilic fillers, such as calcium carbonate, barium sulphate, clay, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, silica, etc. are not easy to be infiltrated by the rubber, so it is more difficult to disperse when mixing, but the mixing speed is faster. In order to obtain good mixing effect, so that the hydrophilic filler can also be better dispersed in the rubber, you can chemically modify the surface of this kind of mating agent, commonly used surfactants are stearic acid, high-grade alcohols, nitrogen-containing compounds, certain low molecular polymers and so on.
Plasticisers, recycled rubber and other organic agents (such as accelerators, antioxidants, etc.) are miscible with rubber, so they are generally easy to disperse in the rubber. Sulphur yellow and other vulcanising agents can also be dissolved in rubber in a certain amount. Zinc oxide in the rubber is a difficult to disperse with the agent, and the cost is high, so in the formulation design, should be as low as possible.
