The hindrance of vulcanization pressure to the performance of shock-absorbing rubber products

Regarding the obstruction of vulcanization pressure to shock-absorbing rubber products, we conducted corresponding tests with the most common shock-absorbing rubber pads, punched holes in the cavity surface of the mold and installed pressure sensors. The influence of the change of vulcanization pressure on the performance of the product under the two vulcanization methods of molding and injection molding was compared. The test results are as follows: the pressure of the injection molding vulcanization method during vulcanization is more than one-time higher than that of the molding vulcanization method. In addition, to achieve the same static stiffness of the product, the hardness of the vulcanized compound in the injection molding method is significantly lower than that of the vulcanized compound in the molding method, which provides another way to adjust the static stiffness of the high-hardness compound of the shock-absorbing rubber product. Most importantly, the compression set of the product was reduced by 42%, which correspondingly increased the life of the shock-absorbing rubber product in terms of deformation.
1. Under the mold and injection methods, the vulcanization pressure of the compound in the mold cavity increases with time, and the vulcanization pressure always increases first and then decreases, and finally is in a flat state.
2. With the increase of vulcanization pressure, the 300% constant elongation and tensile strength of the rubber compound increased, but the elongation at break, tear strength and compression permanent shape of the rubber compound decreased.
3. During the vulcanization process of shock-absorbing rubber products, the pressure of the rubber compound in the mold cavity in the injection vulcanization method is more than double that of the molding vulcanization method. The hardness of the rubber compound required for the product to achieve the same static stiffness is quite different. With the increase of vulcanization pressure during vulcanization of the product, the compression set performance of the product is significantly improved.
