Physical properties of ethylene propylene rubber

The raw rubber of ethylene propylene rubber is generally translucent to transparent, white to amber solid. When the residual catalytic metal is not removed, it often appears as light green in the air. It is available in lumpy or granular form. The storage stability of raw rubber in air is high, and there is generally no cold flow phenomenon.
Ethylene propylene rubber is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexane, tetrahydronaphthalene, heptane, benzene and other solvents, but insoluble in ketones, alcohols, esters, ethers and other solvents.
Compared with other types of rubber, ethylene propylene rubber has the lowest density. Generally the relative density of binary EPDM is 0.855~0.865, and the relative density of EPDM is 0.860~0.870. This means that the mass of the same volume of ethylene propylene rubber products is lighter than the mass of other rubber products. On the other hand, it also means that ethylene propylene rubber has greater filler than other rubber, which is conducive to reducing the material cost of the products.
