Tensile strength characterizes the ultimate ability of a product to resist tensile damage. Together with abrasion resistance and tear strength, it is one of the three major reinforcement criteria for the quality of vulcanized rubber. Firstly, it increases with the amount of carbon black. Secondly, the specific surface area of carbon black is positively related to the tensile strength, while the structure of carbon black has a less obvious correlation with the tensile strength. However, the tensile strength is more affected by the structure of carbon black at higher or lower carbon black compositions.
Increase the amount of carbon black is a classic method to obtain high hardness vulcanized rubber, but in fact the amount of carbon has a certain limit, the amount of its period of more than 85 parts, continue to increase the amount of hardness to improve and not obvious, generally single carbon black is difficult to get the hardness (Shore A) greater than 90 vulcanized rubber, even if it can be achieved, the processability of the rubber is also very poor, it must be added to the formulation of the plasticizer, the addition of plasticizer after the processability of the good, but not conducive to increasing the products, but not to increase the product structure. However, it is not conducive to increasing the hardness of products. At present, the effective hardening method is to use additives that can participate in the vulcanization reaction or have some chemical effect with the macromolecules to provide some structural factors that can improve the hardness.
