The following signs typically indicate silicone seals have deteriorated, with diminished sealing performance, warranting consideration for replacement:
Hardened and brittle texture: Loss of original suppleness and elasticity, with slow or no rebound after compression.
Surface powdering and cracking: White powder detaches upon touch, or fine cracks are visible to the naked eye.
Visible permanent deformation: When removed from the installation groove, it fails to return to its original shape and remains compressed.
Loss of flexibility: Feels stiff when bent, or may break outright.
Direct manifestations of seal failure: Draughts or water ingress around doors/windows; dust ingress into equipment compartments; heat leakage from ovens, etc.
