The core function of dustproof oil seal:
Blocking external pollutants
Scraping away dust, mud, moisture, metal shavings and other foreign matter adhering to the surface of the piston rod, preventing them from entering the inside of the hydraulic cylinder or air cylinder.
Contaminants are prevented from damaging the main seal (e.g. piston rod seal) or scratching the piston rod surface.
Auxiliary lubrication and sealing
Part of the dustproof oil seal design with oil reservoir lip can scrape off excess oil film and evenly distribute grease, reducing dry friction between the piston rod and main seal.
Dual protection with the main seal extends system life.
Protection of piston rod surface
Reduces wear of hard particles on piston rod plating (e.g. hard chrome layer) and prevents erosion by corrosive media (e.g. salt water, acid mist).
