What is the effect of unsaturated carboxylates on the increase of rubber hardness?

Unsaturated carboxylate is a new type of reinforcing filler developed recently, which shows different reinforcing effect and characteristics from traditional reinforcing agent carbon white carbon black. The general formula of unsaturated carboxylates can be expressed as: Mn+(RCOO-)n , where M represents the metal ion with valence n, R is the unsaturated hydrocarbon group, and the sodium, magnesium and zinc salts of phenylacrylic acid, methacrylic acid (MAA), maleic acid (MA), etc. are the main ones. 
  As a reinforcing filler added to the rubber, it can participate in the cross-linking reaction during vulcanization due to its own double bond, which improves the cross-linking density of the rubber, thus increasing the hardness of the rubber.
The use of unsaturated carboxylate reinforced rubber has the following characteristics.
1、High strength in a wide range of hardness.
2、With the increase of unsaturated carboxylic acid salt, the viscosity of the rubber material does not change much, and it has good processing performance; 3、When the hardness is high, the viscosity of the rubber material does not change much.
3, in the high hardness, still has a high elongation.
4、Higher elasticity and lower heat generation.
5, with the addition of unsaturated carboxylic acid salt, the compression permanent deformation of vulcanized rubber increases.
6, good adhesion with metal.
Unsaturated carboxylates will increase the viscosity of the rubber, especially increase the tendency of the rubber to stick to the mold, which will bring trouble to the vulcanization process, so the amount should not be too large.
